Educational Outreach

The Franke Center for the Arts Education program offers enrichment programming for schools.

Expert Artist Workshops

The Franke Center has been working directly in Marshall Public Schools and beyond for the past four years. A team of teaching artists specializing in creative writing, poetry, theater games, music, and visual art conduct in-school workshops in core curriculum classes. Teachers and students alike have responded brilliantly to using creative expression as a new tool in their classes.

Education Outreach Program with Young Michigan Dances

Each year, the Franke Center’s Youth Theater collaborates with Young Michigan Dances, a Coldwater-based non-profit, to create an original piece of theater that is then shared with children from area schools. The performance hits curriculum tie-ins with elementary and middle school teachers and allows students to experience the work of talented guest artists. All students are brought to The Franke Center as a field trip. A post-show Q&A is provided so the students and teachers may ask questions of the cast and crew. This program is proud to serve over 1,600 students each year.

Extracurricular Workshops

The Franke Center offers acting, audition, and movement workshops during the year, facilitated by local, professional artists and teachers. Some workshops are designed to prepare students new to theater for their first auditions. Others give more seasoned young performers a chance to grow in confidence and technique.
