Theater Discovery Camp is back! This hands-on summer learning camp will help kindergarten through 5th graders experience many different aspects of theater. Each day will feature activities, a take home project, a special guest, snacks, and more!
Guests will include: Jennifer Conley Darling, Jacob Gates, Dr. Laura Gilbertson, Beau Hutchings, Kathleen Lambrix, Melanie Russcher, Kathy Seifert, and many more!
Campers who sign up for 5 or more days can attend a tour, dinner and show at The Barn Theater free of charge and will receive a take home project book.
There will be a different theme on each day of the camp:
Monday, July 22nd
MAKE THE STAGE OUR WORLD
Learn how we make sets and props look real in theater. We will use our imagination and make our own backdrop.
Tuesday, July 23rd
LIGHT IT UP!
Learn how lights make a difference to a show. Make and take home some lighting fun.
Wednesday, July 24th
BRINGING A STORY TO LIFE
Learn how a story becomes a show. Take home your story (Special opportunity to attend a Sponge Bob final dress rehearsal at 7:30pm)
Thursday, July 25th
DRESS IT UP!
Learn what it takes to be a costumer. Make your own costume piece to take home.
Friday, July 26th
TASTE OF THEATER
Learn how food is used in productions and make some to take home.
Monday, July 29th
IMAGINATION IMPROV
Learn what improv is through games, activities, and humor. Make a project right out of the mind of one of our favorite imagineers!
Tuesday, July 30th
I LIKE TO MOVE IT, MOVE IT
Learn the choreography to a well-known show. Take home a puppet of one of our favorite characters.
Wednesday, July 31st
PLAYING WITH SCREENPLAYS
Learn about writing movie scripts from Jacob (J. Gabriel) Gates, author of over a dozen award-winning books and screenplays. Design your own movie storyboard or script.
Thursday, August 1st
WHO DO YOU WANT TO BE?
Learn about becoming a character and make your own mask to take home.
Friday, August 2nd
SHOW US WHAT YOU’VE GOT!
Learn a dance, scene, and song for any audition. Do and end-of-camp performance.
