Back by popular demand, our college A Cappella night has long been a fan favorite here at The Franke! Get ready for an incredible night of entertainment as four talented a cappella groups—two from Michigan State and two from the University of Michigan—meet up in a night of fun musical rivalry.
State of Fifths
State of Fifths is an award-winning co-ed a cappella group that was founded in the fall of 2008 at Michigan State University, consisting of undergraduate students across all different majors that come together to make innovative heartfelt music and incredible memories. They perform a wide variety of music arranged by their members, and they work hard to sound their very best for every gig, concert, and competition.
Amazin’ Blue
Since its founding in 1987 at the University of Michigan, Amazin’ Blue (AB) has produced 16 studio albums and performed at a cappella venues throughout the nation. AB is the only university-sponsored a cappella group on campus. They are proud to share their music with the Michigan community alongside 14 other member groups of the Michigan A Cappella Council. AB recently celebrated its 30th anniversary and accepted its 200th member, representing their long history of love, friendship, and innovation.
The Spartan Dischords
The Spartan Dischords add a fine blend of harmony and humor to the campus of MSU. We offer a creative outlet for male vocalists and aim to entertain our audiences without the help of instruments.
The Compulsive Lyres
The Compulsive Lyres is a tight-knit group of upbeat students dedicated to performing and arranging A Cappella music from a variety of different genres. The Lyres host a concert each semester, perform at both on-campus and off-campus gigs, and attend a retreat every semester which never fails to bring us closer as a group. The Lyres are comprised of charismatic, motivated, sarcastic, creative, devoted individuals who take pride in the music that we create and the family that we have become.
