TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
JOB SUMMARY
The Franke Center for the Arts, a leading regional arts center and performance venue, seeks a Technical Director. The Franke Center hosts concerts, theatrical productions, film screenings, artistic workshops, and cultural events. It also hosts meetings, weddings, and other special events. The Technical Director is responsible for the technical operations of The Franke Center, including stage lighting, concert sound, streaming video, and audio / visual support. The Technical Director works with a great deal of independence and exercises independent judgment in performing a wide variety of duties.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate, design, set up, and lead all production technology elements for concerts and theatrical productions such as lighting, sound, staging, video projection, and special effects.
- Operate, maintain and safeguard the technical assets of the theater, including supervising the use of lighting, sound, and communications equipment.
- Ensure equipment including lighting, sound, and rigging equipment is set up, operated and maintained properly and stored safely.
- Maintain a running inventory of all technical equipment at the facility. Monitor the condition of equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and arrange for repair and replacement as necessary. Identify technical equipment needed and complete purchases.
- Ensure all users of the facility are adhering to industry safety standards.
- Assist Franke Center Youth Theater with production technology. Attend technical week rehearsals (as needed) in order to supervise and assist in the technical aspects of the shows.
- Act as liaison for Marshall Civic Players and other renters using the facility. Sign out tech equipment and provide technology support.
- Oversee and train adult and youth volunteers and interns in areas including sound, lights, and video.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Technical experience with concert sound systems is preferred
- Technical experience with theatrical sound systems is preferred
- Technical experience with concert or theatrical lighting systems preferred
- Sound mixing experience preferred
- Experience with Qlab or similar software is preferred
- Video editing and streaming experience is preferred
- Audio recording experience is preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of renters, volunteers, performers and staff
- An interest in learning about and maintaining current knowledge of cutting edge sound and lighting equipment
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including irregular evening and weekend hours
A successful candidate may not have skills and experience in every area mentioned above, but should be willing to learn and develop in the areas in which they are not experts.

FACILITY TECH JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB SUMMARY
The Franke Center for the Arts, a leading regional arts center and performance venue, seeks a Facility Tech. The Franke Center hosts concerts, theatrical productions, film screenings, artistic workshops, and cultural events. It also hosts meetings, weddings, and other community gatherings. The Facility Tech is responsible for maintaining the Franke Center facility.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Clean the facility. This will include cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming, refilling soap dispensers, dusting, mopping, taking out trash, and other cleaning tasks as needed.
• Set up and take down chairs and tables for events (requires lifting at least 30 lbs and navigating stairs).
• Light facility maintenance including plaster patching, painting, changing light bulbs, and minor repairs as needed.
• Tidy and declutter areas of the building as directed.
• Monitor cleaning and maintenance supplies for reorder.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
• Janitorial experience and / or a willingness to clean thoroughly
• Light maintenance experience and / or ability
• Ability to work a flexible parttime schedule
• A flexible and positive attitude
• Reliable transportation and responsive communication
Hourly pay depending on experience. Part time. Schedule to be determined based on the successful candidate’s skills and availability, likely around 10 hours per week.
